A Gluten-Free Bakery Born From Frustration (and a Sourdough Starter!)
Baking has always been my passion. Before my celiac disease diagnosis, I spent hours perfecting cakes, cookies, and other desserts—even selling my baked goods locally. But once I had to go gluten-free, everything changed. Recipes failed, and store-bought options were disappointing. Frustrated, I gave up baking altogether.
That all changed in 2021 when I started playing around with easy gluten-free recipes family would send me online. Then in 2023 I really ramped up my baking when I decided I was sick of never eating great-tasting baked goods and started my gluten-free sourdough baking journey. I spent a full year perfecting my gluten-free sourdough bread, and by Thanksgiving 2024, I had finally done it! I started sharing my loaves with friends and family, and before I knew it, people were asking how to order.
That’s how Simply Gluten-Free Kitchen was born—a home bakery specializing in artisan gluten-free sourdough bread, pretzels, and rolls, made right here in Bay City, Michigan.
